Empowering Laboratories to Implement Responsible AI Solutions
Exploring the Future of AI in Public Health Laboratory Science
We are working closely with the APHL Knowledge Management Committee (KMC) and the wider APHL community to chart a thoughtful and ethical pathway for the integration of AI into laboratory science—ensuring innovation serves the mission of protecting public health.
Together, we are building a networked learning community that brings together:
- APHL programs and committees, to ensure AI solutions address real public health laboratory needs.
- 70+ volunteers across the laboratory community who are already using AI tools in their workplaces and eager to share their experience.
- Member laboratories and partners, who will benefit from applied learning, shared practices and ethical guidance.
Through this collaboration, we will:
- Facilitate discussions on model practices, risks and responsible AI adoption in the public health laboratory context.
- Share resources and emerging policies that guide the use of AI and data in laboratory environments.
- Host webinars, workshops and other events to promote peer learning and highlight real-world use cases.
- Build a sustainable learning network where members can connect, exchange ideas and contribute to advancing AI in public health responsibly.
