LRN-B Technical Meeting Banner

APHL, in collaboration with the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Office of Laboratory Systems and Response (OLSR), Division of Laboratory Systems (DLS) is pleased to convene the 2026 Laboratory Response Network for Biological Preparedness (LRN-B) Technical Meeting September 1-3 in San Antonio, TX.

The purpose of this meeting is to convene LRN-B members and provide them with current information on preparedness collaborations and emerging technologies, share model practices, discuss solutions to ongoing challenges and explore the future of the LRN-B to stay ahead of the threat. 

The central theme for this meeting is: From Detection to Action: A Resilient Network in the Face of Uncertainty

  • All presenters must register for the meeting and assume responsibility for their own transportation and lodging and be in attendance for their presentations.
  • There is no limit on the number of abstracts that registrants may submit.
  • Submitted abstracts should be applicable to at least one of the following meeting tracks:
    • Regulatory Compliance and Oversight
    • Laboratory Operations and Management
    • Technical Advances and Operations
    • Training, Drills and Exercises
    • Preparedness and Response

By the end of this meeting attendees will be able to:

  • Discuss organizational changes at CDC to strengthen laboratory preparedness and response.
  • Describe partnerships and coordination for laboratory preparedness and response.
  • Describe the evolving role of the LRN and articulate its accomplishments and vision.
  • Discuss how the LRN supports public health.
  • Explain various methods and new initiatives for peer-to-peer networking in the LRN-B.
  • Describe evaluation and implementation of new technologies for LRN-B testing.
  • Describe the evolving role and uses of artificial intelligence in laboratories.
  • Discuss the impact of federal regulations on laboratory testing.
  • Explain the role of various partners and how they work in tandem with the LRN-B.
  • Celebrate the accomplishments of their peers.
  • Describe the critical role of timely testing and reporting in public health responses.
  • Describe various case studies and how testing is performed in LRN-B laboratories.

Typical attendees are members of the network who serve as laboratory directors, supervisors, biothreat preparedness and response coordinators, training and outreach staff, biosafety officers as well as partners who work to advance the role of the network in threat detection and response.

Continuing Education

APHL is approved as a provider of continuing education programs in the clinical laboratory sciences by the American Society of Clinical Laboratory Science P.A.C.E.® program. Attendees have the opportunity to earn contact hours by attending sessions at the conference. Attendance and completion of the evaluation is required to receive a P.A.C.E.® certificate.
