Prospective Applicants 

 

APHL and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) partner to offer a variety of laboratory fellowship programs to train and prepare scientists for careers in public health laboratories. Fellows are placed in host laboratories and trained in techniques and competencies that are transferrable to a career in public health laboratory science.

Fellowships are open to US citizens and permanent residents who have completed a bachelor’s degree or will have completed their degree before the beginning of the fellowship. 

Be prepared to submit the following with your application:

  • Transcript (official or unofficial; PDF version will be required for upload/attachment to application)
  • Resume or CV (PDF version will be required for upload/attachment to application)
  • Professional references and their email addresses (bachelor and master level applicants will need two (2) references and doctorate level will need three (3) with one being their doctoral program advisor)
  • List of desirable placement/location options for your fellowship
Fellowship terms are one year, with a possible extension for a second year, depending on the fellowship and funding availability. We offer flexible start dates to meet the needs of both you and your mentor.
