ABOUT LABORATORY LEADERS OF TODAY ALUMNI

A Network for Sharing Ideas and Maximizing Leadership Opportunities

LLOTA provides an opportunity for LLOT graduates to continue to strengthen their leadership capacity, fosters collaboration and drives innovation across public health laboratories. LLOTA serves as a platform for continued connection, shared learning and collective action to advance laboratory excellence and prepare the field for future challenges.

Key Objectives

  • Foster Connection and Collaboration
Maintain an engaged network of Laboratory Leaders of Today graduates through regular communication, shared experiences and professional collaboration.
  • Advance Leadership and Management Excellence
Promote continuous development of leadership, management and operational practices within public health laboratories.
  • Facilitate Knowledge Exchange
Provide a platform for sharing strategies, lessons learned and innovations that address current and emerging challenges in laboratory leadership.
  • Champion the Laboratory Community
Support initiatives that strengthen the public health laboratory system, enhance workforce resilience and promote the visibility of laboratory leadership at all levels.

Network Leadership: Action-centric Team

The LLOTA Action-centric Team (ACT) is a dynamic group of Laboratory Leaders of Today graduates who guide the priorities and initiatives of the broader alumni network. Acting as a catalyst for collaboration and strategic dialogue, LLOTA ACT drives efforts that advance leadership development, promote laboratory management excellence and address emerging issues in public health laboratory science.

The LLOTA ACT includes four to six members representing a range of public health laboratories, including state, local environmental and agricultural labs, as well as a recently graduated cohort representative. This structure ensures that many perspectives and laboratory experiences inform the team’s work and that the alumni network continues to reflect the full spectrum of the public health laboratory community.

Through their leadership, LLOTA ACT members strengthen the network’s impact, connect alumni across the nation, and help shape the future of public health laboratory leadership.
